On Frustrations

31 October 2022, from Gems:

Sammy Dabi, eldest son of deceased Navy Capt. Salvador M. Dabi: Hopefully this long and winding road to finally settle all these claims come soon. Matatanda na mga claimants nito at patay na rin most of them. Honestly, and sorry for my words, it’s very frustrating.  College palang ako topic na ito. Now i am 53y/o it’s still the same topic. Just releasing my frustration. But i am still hopefull that eveything will be settled soonest for our veteran claimants to get what they deserve. God Bless all.

Gems: Sammy, we are all in the same boat. We are all in this together. And we are all aging and many, indeed, sadly had passed. We are all frustrated  and angry and anxious at the uncertainty of it all. But let us face and handle this right. Let us not invest our emotions on the things we cannot control. For 17 long years our applications got suspended. This year, we got them lifted. For over 20 years we waited for the legal case against the Navy to be decided. This year the Supreme Court has spoken with finality, that the land is ours. For 15 plus years, the admin process of titling stopped. This year, we got the first 18 deeds of sale out, with the next 46 nearing the end stage. For years, we could not get positive commitments from DENR and DND. Now the process has resumed. And in the next weeks we are pursuing our calls on the new DENR Secretary and on the Secretaryof DND to follow up the implementation of DO 42 and DO 49, to not only effect the departure of the Navy from our area, which they turned into golf course, but accommodate all similarly situated lot owners.  Led by no less than Sir Gene Senga, our lines of efforts at various levels, in fact, leave us no room to be frustrated. We are, on the contrary, excited because our line, after all these years, is finally moving. The frustration we felt before, like the frustration and bitterness you feel now, has been replaced with hope and anticipation. I don’t know where you’re coming from right now, but if it’s something rooted in the past, we see no more point in going back to it. The sad events before were beyond control. Heaping blame is useless. Let me suggest that we all refocus and gain our needed measure of strength from this: your elected board members today are all rowing mightily against powerful waves, against the wind. But we are rowing every second, every minute, with all hands on deck.  Lend us your hand by simply meeting all the requirements of DENR. Or chanting some cheer songs to help us through. Help us help you.
