Is Admiral Adaci the Messiah?

We all know that there are two sides to every story; and I have thought it is best to take the other side, the side of the Navy.

Inasmuch as, we, the lot owners of Phase 678, are under the mercy of Admiral Adaci, the incumbent FOIC. He alone can decide whether to deny or grant our plea to get our lots. He does not need any approval from CSAFP, SND nor from the Board of Directors of the PNGC. The order of the highest court of the country is directly addressed to the FOIC, who happens to be Adaci.

Let us refrain from attacking his good name!

The public knows that in 2015, RTC of Taguig ruled out, affirmed by the Supreme Court, that the PNGC is not the property of the Navy. As such, the lots owned by Abaya, Follosco, Maglonzo, and Sta Clara must be turned over to them. Following the same logic and precedence, the other lots, therefore, belong also to the title holders!

From the time the court ruling came out, the FOICs were Taccad, Mercado, Empedrad, Bacordo, Bordado and now Adaci. The FOICs before Adaci were all successful in parrying the issue. In this manner, Adaci does not want to be branded as the FOIC who gave away PNGC, the goose that lays golden eggs. So that in his retirement, this poem can be proclaimed:

The Watch

For two years, as Flag Officer in Command, this sailor has stood the watch.

While some of us were waiting,
this sailor stood the watch.

While some of us were in praying, this shipmate stood the watch.

Yes.. even before some of us were considered allocatees, awardees and owners, this shipmate stood the watch.

In those years when the court case was seen brewing on the horizon of history, this shipmate stood the watch.

Many times, he would cast an eye on the fairways and see his Navymates and friends playing there, needing his guidance and support, needing his decision to hold and defend, not to leave, during those hard times; but he still stood the watch.

He stood the watch for two years. He stood the watch so that we, the lot owners, considered as his enemies, can be deprived to get what we own, each and every day, knowing that a sailor stood the watch.

Today the whole Navy is here to say, “Shipmate… the watch stands relieved; relieved by those trained, guided, and led by him. Shipmate you stand relieved.. we have the watch…Shipmate’s going ashore..”

I find the situation disheartening because Adacci does not see anything wrong from his actions and inactions. He also wanted to leave a legacy under his name. He would even attempt to build a 9-storey ‘condo-type’ housing for his personnel inside the property of AFPOVAI.

Our only hope, then, is to wait for our Messiah to come! A FOIC who will fit this description:

“A man of honour that has moral courage and principles, who does not depend on other people impressions about him. A man with conscience. Wrong is wrong, even the majority are out justifying the wrong. Right is right, even right is unpopular. A man who will not betray his oath of duty by disobeying lawful orders. A man who can stand in his own feet. No money can trump his principles for knowing he would lose to receive a six-figure monthly share from the golf club; and losing ready funds to finance other personal projects.”

The new law on retirement, RA#11939 of 17 May 2023, the term of the FOIC will now be a maximum tour of duty of two years, subject to early termination by the President.

Adaci assumed command of the Navy on 22 November 2022. He will be retiring on the same date in 2024. He has only to disregard, delay and weather the issue. He has the Navy JAGS, in his disposal, to take care of any complaints and to make all the delaying tactics in the book until he is replaced. His objective is to pass and let the next FOIC inherit the problem …

Is Adaci our Messiah? Does he fit the description? If not, we have to wait for the succeeding FOICs…until we can determine what name to give for our main thoroughfare inside phase678, parallel to Diego Silang Avenue, side by side with the names of our national heroes. We will adapt his name – a tribute to the courage-integrity-loyalty of this great man, the messiah! He must always be remembered by the residents and revered forever for leaving a true legacy for humanity!
