SEPTEMBER ELECTIONS

01 September 2024, from Gems:

Dear Fellow Lot Owners:

In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve just entered September, our AFPOVAI month of elections. The mother board has announced that the AFPOVAI BOD elections will be held on 28 September 2024, where we have decided to field our own candidate to the Board, Director Cesar Mancao, to gain strong representation at the top.

We ourselves are preparing for our own Phase 678 Chapter elections on 21 September, three weeks from now. In fact, last week, President Vic Guerzon submitted to the AFPOVAI Elections Committee our own Rules, Procedures and Guidelines on the Conduct of Electronic Voting for Phase 678 Chapter Election and for AFPOVAI Election of their 2024-2025 Board of Directors. We shall be sharing the same with you for information and guidance.

But here’s the challenge. As of today, we have no idea who among our members wish to make a run for seats in our Chapter Board and replace the incumbent set. We have been quietly seeking out anyone willing to volunteer time and effort pro bono to serve as board directors to no avail. The discussions invariably boiled down to the prospects of success in our phyrric struggle to repossess our lots from the Philippine Navy and the board’s ability to turn the tide in our favor. This kind of hesitation should never hold us back. We need bravehearts to come forward.

Right now we have the following board directors in their remaining days at the office: Lt Gen Galileo Kintanar, Lt Gen Antonio Ramon Ang Lim, MGen Vic Guerzon, MGen Guillermo Molina Jr II, BGen Ading Murillo, Col Manuel Satuito, Col Cesar Mancao, Col Mayaman Mangondaya, Col Melva Bonifacio, Capt Virgilio Mateo, and Ms Gigi Lim.

With the exit of Director Mancao and inclusion of Col Melva Bonifacio as well as Col Mangondaya in the AFPOVAI Election Committee, we are losing three (3) of our directors to our mother association.
What we have agreed to do for now is to have your current Board, whose terms are all expiring this month, to run for re-election, but with the return of Ms Teresita Mendoza and the addition of Lt General Allen Paredes, in the mix.

The entry of former CGPAF Lt Gen Paredes will no doubt boost our board leadership, but that would still leave us with only nine (9) active board directors. Our ByLaws provide that the Chapter’s Board of Directors shall be composed of at least seven (7) but not more than fifteen (15) elected members of the Chapter. We may not fill up the maximum of 15, but we need at least 11 to man the seats, the Chairman not yet included.

In this regard, if you are willing to join the AFPOVAI Phase 678 Chapter Board, kindly download and complete the attached COC form and file your certificate of candidacy on or before 09 September of this month.

More than ever, we need your brilliance and drive to lead our fight going forward.

Let us step up, participate and lend our voice during our September elections.
